‘Did you know that unemployment in Greece is now lower than in Sweden, Finland, and Spain?’

Unemployment has dropped from 10.8% in April 2024 to 8.3% in April 2025, Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis said in a social media post on Saturday.
“Did you know that unemployment in our country is today lower than that of Sweden, Finland, and Spain? In April, we had very good news. Unemployment dropped to 8.3% this year from 10.8% in the same month last year. It is the lowest unemployment rate of the last 17 years,” Mitsotakis said.
The premier also pointed out that unemployment among young people dropped to 20.4% from 24%. “It is still high, but we have a significant drop. While for women, it dropped to 10.8% from 13.6% it was a year ago,” he noted.
Mitsotakis underlined that this drop is not accidental. “It took place on a plan of lower taxation and mostly with more investments, which create a lot of new jobs. But with a state as well that does not set obstacles to entrepreneurship. Unemployment is dropping. Greece moves ahead. We continue!” he said.
