Gov’t is strengthening tools in the ongoing fight against high prices

Athens,Greece.- Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis expressed his best wishes for success to students sitting for examinations for entrance to universities (panellinies), and referred to the abolition of the organization handling EU farm funding for Greece (OPEKEPE) and its absorption by the Independent Authority for Public Revenue (AADE), in his weekly social media roundup of government activities.

Mitsotakis also referred to the government’s ongoing efforts to fight high prices and protect consumers and their income. These will include new signage for products whose size is reduced without a corresponding price drop, the operation of open markets for producers, and the digital upgrade of the e-katanalotis application that allows consumers to choose cheaper products. He also reiterated the founding of a new national authority to supervise the market and work in parallel with the Competition Authority to allow consumers to file complaints on prices through a mobile app.

In his Sunday message, the prime minister also spoke of the unified health e-file for patients that went into operation on Monday and allows a doctor to see a patient’s full medical history. “The state will acquire for the first time ever a national reference base with health data of the population. The e-file will be gradually augmented with new services, depending on the National Health Service needs and technological capabilities,” Mitsotakis said.
