No fees from today for withdrawals from the ATMs of Greek banks

New national economy and finance ministry legislation came into force on Monday that fully abolishes all charges for cash withdrawals from the ATMs of Greek banks, while also setting a nationwide cap of 1.5 euros on fees for cash withdrawals from the ATMs of third-party providers.
The new regulation foresees:
-Zero commissions for cash withdrawals between all banks participating in the DIAS interbank system.
-Abolition of fees from third-party providers when there is a direct or indirect shareholder connection with the customer’s bank.
-Zero fees from third-party providers in municipal communities where only one ATM is in operation.
-Cap of 1.50 euros on fees for withdrawals from ATMs of third-party payment service providers nationwide.
-Free balance inquiries for all cardholders, regardless of bank or ATM provider.
-Uniform fee of 0.50 euros for remittances sent via digital channels (web, mobile, internet banking) through third-party providers, matching the fees of banks.
-Legal guarantee that no bank can charge its customers for cash withdrawals.
