Inspections underway in fire-affected areas; compensation to start before end of August

Inspections are ongoing in the Regional Units of Achaia, Preveza, Chios, and Zakynthos, using digital tools and in the presence of property owners, carried out by teams from the General Directorate for Natural Disaster Recovery.

The process began immediately under the supervision of Deputy Minister of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection, responsible for State Aid, Kostas Katsafados.

The Ministry of Climate Crisis and Civil Protection said its teams are working with municipal and regional authorities to complete procedures quickly and start paying compensation before the end of August.

In 24 hours, 47 inspections were carried out in Achaia and Patras:
⦁    Municipality of Western Achaia – Community of Agios Stefanos: 11 inspections (1 green, 9 yellow, 1 red)
⦁    Municipality of Western Achaia – Community of Haikali: 5 inspections (4 yellow, 1 red)
⦁    Municipality of Erymanthos – Community of Vasiliko: 6 inspections (1 green, 4 yellow, 1 red)
⦁    Municipality of Erymanthos – Community of Isoma: 3 inspections (all yellow)
⦁    Municipality of Patras – Community of Vrachnaika: 16 inspections (1 green, 12 yellow, 3 red)
⦁    Municipality of Patras – Community of Theriano: 6 inspections (1 green, 4 yellow, 1 red).

“ The challenge is vigilance and speed – and we are winning that every day,” Katsafados said adding that “ mobilization is continuous and multi-level. In many cases, the first reports began even before the fires were completely extinguished.”
