Patmos Music Festival to include chamber, sacred music August 26-September 7

Patmos: The Patmos Music Festival 2025 will take place from August 26 to September 7, and will run in two parts: the 4th Chamber Music Festival will run from August 26 to 31, and the 23rd Sacred Music Festival, from September 1 to 7.

Performing at the Chamber Music Festival will be violinists Irène Duval, Michael Guttman, Barnabas Kelemen, Katalin Kokas, Giulia Pianini Mazzucchetti, cellists Steven Isserlis, Christophe Coin, Henri Demarquette, pianists Alessandra Ammara, Michel Dalberto, Maya Oganyan, Roberto Prosseda, badoneonista Lysandre Donoso, soprano Katerina Mina, the quartet Adorno and the Chamber Orchestra of Brussels.

Also present will be director Bruno Mosaingeon, who will attend a screening of one of his latest documentaries in a night dedicated to him. Mosaingeon will also teach one of the piano masterclasses.

The Sacred Music Festival will include performances of pieces such as Olivier Messiaen’s “Quatuor pour la fin du temps” by the Dream Team group (Steven Isserlis, Pierre Genisson, Irène Duval and Maya Oganyan), and Haydn’s “The Seven Last Words of Our Saviour on the Cross,” Hob. XX/1B (version for string quartet), performed by the group Adorno.

Greek soprano Eleni Lydia Stamellou will present a recital devoted to the “Cantigas de Santa Maria” with lutenist Michael Eberle and cellist Antoine Billet.

Opening and closing the Sacred Music Festival will be two large choirs of the Greek Orthodox tradition: Musicaeterna Byzantina (founded by Teodor Currentzis and directed by Antonios Koutroubis), and the National Chamber Choir of Armenia (directed by Robert Mlkenyan).
