International Colloquy: “Parthenon: An Icon of Global Citizenship”. Information evening for the Melbourne community

The Organising Committee of the Second International Colloquy: “Parthenon. An Icon of Global Citizenship” will be hosting its second community information session on Friday, 11 October 2013, at the Ithacan Philanthropic Society “The Ulysses” (Level 2, 329 Elizabeth street, MELBOURNE) commencing at 6:00pm.

This information session aims to inform the community about the importance of the colloquy, the progress of its preparations, its program of lectures and activities and ways everybody can participate and support us.

The International Colloquy will take place at the University of Sydney between 15 and 17th November. The event is hosted by the International Organising Committee – Australia – for the Restitution of the Parthenon Marbles (IOC-A-RPM) with the support of the British and American Committees. Using a number of modern technologies the event will give the opportunity to academics, activists and supporters from around the world to discuss the significance of the Parthenon as a Global Icon and the subsequent 200 year old cultural property dispute over the separation of the Parthenon Sculptures from the monument.
