Convention in Full Swing!

How quickly the days fly by!  I want to share with you some exceptional moments as the 93rd AHEPA Supreme Convention heads down the homestretch.

Today’s National Athletic Awards Luncheon continues to be a unique and special event.  The acceptance remarks from all the honorees who simply exemplify the best in this facet of AHEPA’s mission—athletics—were truly touching and memorable.  Congratulations to all the well-deserving honorees, including our Athletic Hall of Fame inducteesscholar athletes, and national award-winners.  Also, I’d like to congratulate Penelope House Executive Director Tonie Ann Torrans for being inducted into the Daughters of Penelope Athletic Hall of Fame.

As always, the AHEPA Hellenic Cultural Commission sponsors an event to enlighten our delegates.  This year, the Commission featured former U.S. Ambassador to Hungary Eleni Tsakopoulos Kounalakis, who presented her book, “Madam Ambassador: Three Years of Diplomacy, Dinner Parties, and Democracy in Budapest” to the ‪#‎AHEPA93SC attendees. Ambassador Tsakopoulos Kounalakis is the first Greek American woman appointed U.S. ambassador. The Daughters of Penelope presented the ambassador with its Civic Responsibility Award in April.

Our business sessions are winding down.  By this evening, we’ll know all our nominees for national office.

Finally, I’m looking forward to Greek Night tonight where our conventioneers will dance the night away!

And don’t’ forget—as the staff tells me—to use #AHEPA93SC for all your social media posts!
