Hellenic University Club Offers Generous Scholarships for 2024-2025

The Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia proudly announced its scholarship offerings for university and college students of Greek descent or declared Greek Studies majors for the 2024-2025 academic year. The club is providing over $50,000 in scholarships ranging from $1,500 to $10,000 to support both undergraduate and graduate students.

Undergraduate Scholarship Opportunities

Several undergraduate scholarships are available, some based on financial need and others on merit. Need-based scholarships include the $5,000 Dr. Michael Dorizas Memorial Scholarship, the $5,000 Founders Scholarship, the $3,000 Dimitri J. Ververelli Memorial Scholarship for Architecture/Engineering, the $5,000 George C. Liacouras Memorial Scholarship for Wharton School students, the $2,000 Theresa A. Chletcos Memorial Scholarship for Education majors, and the $2,000 Goldie S. Vastardis Memorial Scholarship for St. Luke Greek Orthodox Church members.

Merit-based undergraduate scholarships with no financial need requirements are the $5,000 Paideia Scholarship for children of club members and the $2,500 Cyprus Society Scholarship for students whose families are members of the Cyprus Society.

Graduate Scholarship Opportunities

Graduate students can apply for the $5,000 Dr. Nicholas Padis Memorial Scholarship awarded solely on academic excellence. Those demonstrating financial need may qualify for scholarships like the $2,000 John S. Manos Memorial Scholarship for law students, the $1,500 Dr. Peter A. Theodos Memorial Scholarship for medical students, the $5,000 Nicholas S. Hetos and Maria Galanos Hetos Memorial Scholarship for dental and education students, and the $10,000 Kathleen and Nicholas Fisfis Scholarship for STEM/medical fields.

Special Eligibility Requirements

Some undergraduate and graduate scholarships have special requirements beyond Greek ancestry and geography. Examples include being a member or child of a member of certain Greek organizations, pursuing a specific degree, or attending a particular university. The Chios Society of Philadelphia “Koraes” Scholarship for $3,000 requires being of Chian descent.

Both undergraduate and graduate students must submit transcripts, standardized test scores (undergrads), letters of recommendation, a resume (grad students), essays, and financial documentation if required.   • New Jersey Counties: Atlantic, Burlington, Camden, Cape May, Cumberland, Gloucester, Mercer, Monmouth, Ocean, Salem
  • Delaware County: New Castle
