Pacino to play Onassis in new film

pacinoAmerican actor Al Pacino will reportedly star as Aristotle Onassis in a new film directed by Brazilian Fernando Meirelles. The film, Nemesis, is a biographical drama based on the book Nemesis: The True Story of Aristotle Onassis, Jackie O, and the Love Triangle That Brought down the Kennedys, written by journalist Peter Evans. The controversial book follows the icy relationship between Onassis and Bobby Kennedy. Kennedy had barred him from trading within the US after investigating his business practices and was upset with the limited access he got to Jackie Onassis. The book even asserts that Onassis had ordered the assassination of Kennedy. The director, known for his work on City of God and The Constant Gardener, says the film will be similar to The Godfather and will focus on Aristotle Onassis. Michael Fassbender has been tipped to play Bobby Kennedy, while the role of Jackie Onassis hasn’t been cast. Nemesis will be written by City Of God collaborator Bráulio Mantovani and will reportedly shoot later this year.
