Chicago, IL, June 11, 2015 – Every year during our annual Awards Gala, we see 40 students on stage who are ready to accept their scholarship awards. They are hard workers, scholastic achievers, athletes, community leaders, and unquestionably, some the “best and brightest” Greek-American students.

These students are carefully chosen by the Foundation’s Academic Committee to be honored as our 2015 PanHellenic Scholarship Award recipients.  Antigone Karvounarakis Delton, one of this year’s recipients of the inaugural “Georgia Sfondouris Mitchell Music & Arts Scholarship” states, “The letter notifying me of this award came in the midst of my preparations for the possibility of not being financially able to return to my school, Vassar College, next year. My joy was indescribable when I found out, thanks to the unparalleled generosity of the Foundation.”

When the Foundation receives gratitude such as this, we are certain that the support from our donors, the work of our staff, and the vision of Chris P. Tomaras is truly appreciated and valued.  Executive Director of the Foundation, Yanni Valsamas, wholeheartedly states, “We work hard every year to make sure we award the “best and brightest” because we want to see our Greek-American youth succeed. Not just during their schooling, but beyond that. We want to see some of the best achievers truly reach their potential.”

This year, our 2015 Awards Gala will take place on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Hilton Chicago, where 40 more students will receive $250,000 in scholarships. There will be dinner and dancing in a room filled with pride, success and admiration.  Click here to purchase tickets or call (312) 357-6432. We hope to see you there!
