Κυπριακό, Σκόπια εκτός αντζέντας στη συνάντηση Κοτζιά -Τίλερσον

Ουάσινγκτον.-Στο ρόλο της Ελλάδας στα ζητήματα σταθερότητας και ασφάλειας και στις γεωστρατηγικές μετακινήσεις που γίνονται στην περιοχή μας, αλλά και χωρίς αναφορά στο Κυπριακό και στα Σκόπια, διεξήχθη  η συζήτηση που είχε την Δευτέρα το απόγευμα (τοπική ώρα)  ο υπουργός Εξωτερικών Νίκος Κοτζιάς με τον Αμερικανό ομόλογό του, Ρεξ Τίλερσον στην Ουάσιγκτον.

Όπως δήλωσε ο κ. Κοτζιάς, μετά την ολοκλήρωση της συνάντησης ο κ. Τίλερσον «ήθελε την ανάλυσή μας για το πώς μπορεί να υπάρξει σταθερότητα και ασφάλεια στην περιοχή, ποιες δυνάμεις κινούνται και με ποιο τρόπο».

Ο κ. Κοτζιάς απαντώντας σε ερωτήσεις δημοσιογράφων, είπε ότι αναφέρθηκε στην τουρκική νευρικότητα καθώς επίσης και ότι εξήγησε την ελληνική θέση, «ότι για να υπάρχουν ανθρώπινα δικαιώματα πρέπει να διασφαλίζουμε τη ζωή των ανθρώπων, τονίζοντας κατ’ επέκταση και τη σημασία που έχει για εμάς η ασφάλεια και η σταθερότητα στην Ανατολική Μεσόγειο και στα Βαλκάνια».

Το Κυπριακό, όπως είπε ο κ. Κοτζιάς, θα το συζητήσει με τον Σύμβουλο Εθνικής Ασφαλείας.

U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, who met on Monday with Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Kotzias, reaffirmed the significance of the U.S.-Greek bilateral relationship, according to Deputy State Department Spokesman Mark Toner. Speaking at the briefing, Toner also said that the Secretary and foreign minister “also discussed the importance of building and sustaining security and stability across the region.”

Kotzias showed his U.S. counterpart a map of the area with the triangle of instability and Greece inside playing a role in the stability and security.

Speaking to the Greek journalists after the meeting,, about the issues he discussed with Rex Tillerson, Nikos Kotzias said those were Greece’s role in the stability and security in Southeast Europe and Tillerson “wanted our analysis on how there can be stability and security in the region, which forces are active and how.”

 

Concerning Turkey, the minister said he discussed “Turkish nervousness” and explained Greece’s position on the importance of security and stability in the Eastern Europe and the Balkans.

 

The two sides also discussed ongoing energy projects in Greece with Kotzias noting the importance Greeks place in turning the country into a regional energy hub. He then mentioned other infrastructure projects such as roads and railway networks. “The energy, railway and university networks are for us, above all, networks of stability and then [networks’] that produce economic profit,” he told journalists.
