At least major wildfire fronts were active around Greece on Sunday afternoon and heading into the evening, with the most recent blaze erupting at near the village of Krestena, in Ilia prefecture of southwest Greece.

The same region was devastated by wildfires in late August 2007.

Meanwhile, wildfire continued to rage for a fourth straight day at the Dadia national park in extreme northeast Greece. A wildfire in the southern part of the eastern Aegean island of Lesvos, conversely, was reportedly contained.

Another four significant wildfires were also reported, with dozens of blazes erupting over the past 48 hours in the east Mediterranean country.
