World Travel Awards names Attika Europe’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination

Europe’s premier travel brands have been revealed at a blockbuster gala ceremony at the new Hilton Mallorca Galatzo in Spain.

The leading names in the international hospitality industry aligned at the World Travel Awards (WTA) European Gala Ceremony 2022 to discover who amongst them had won the ultimate accolades in tourism.

The Regional Authority of Attica landed the Europe’s Leading Sustainable Tourism Destination 2022 award with the region beating off global destinations such as Dubrovnik, Edinburgh, Baden-Wurttemberg, Pembrokeshire and the Algarve.

The sustainable tourism award meant to highlight the comparative advantages of a destination that render it more attractive for vacations over 12 months of the year, while observing the principles of sustainability.

Europe’s Leading City Tourism Board 2022 title also went to Greece, more specifically it was awarded to the This is Athens – Convention and Visitor Bureau, of the City of Athens.
