US Senate committee approves Eastern Mediterranean Gateway Act, Papastavrou says

Environment and Energy Minister Stavros Papastavrou emphasised in a social media post that the approval of the Eastern Mediterranean Gateway Act by the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee “is a strong vote of confidence in the strategic importance of the Eastern Mediterranean in the new energy security architecture that Greece is building together with Cyprus, Israel and the United States.”
This represents another milestone, he noted, following the particularly substantive meetings held last Thursday in Houston as part of the 3+1 Energy Ministerial Dialogue. It also follows the establishment of the East Med Energy Center (EMEC), a new institution designed to convert energy cooperation into concrete projects, investments, and innovations.
“The Eastern Mediterranean is transforming into a hub of stability, energy security, and prosperity. Our efforts will focus on ensuring that it acts as a bridge for transatlantic cooperation, regional development, and energy resilience, ultimately benefiting the peoples of the wider region,” stressed Papastavrou.
