American Hellenic Institute Welcomes Internship Applicants for Firsthand Experience of DC Foreign Policy

WASHINGTON, DC – Are you interested in foreign policy, international affairs, government, journalism, or advocacy? The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) is accepting applications for its Internship Program, offering college students and recent graduates a unique opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the nation’s capital while working on issues impacting U.S. relations with Greece and Cyprus.

For more than five decades, AHI’s Internship Program has welcomed more than 300 students and recent graduates to Hellenic House in Washington, DC, helping them develop professional skills, expand their understanding of U.S. foreign policy, and build valuable relationships with policymakers, academics, and professionals. Located just blocks from the White House, AHI interns experience firsthand how foreign policy is developed and advanced in Washington.

The AHI Internship Program provides students with practical experience at the intersection of public policy, advocacy, and international affairs. Interns work directly with AHI staff on research and analysis, policy initiatives, communications, congressional monitoring, and special projects related to U.S.–Greece relations, U.S.–Cyprus relations, and developments in the Eastern Mediterranean. Interns also attend policy briefings, think tank events, and congressional hearings, gaining valuable insight into the policymaking process.

Designed for undergraduate students, graduate students, and recent graduates, the internship provides an opportunity to explore career paths in government, diplomacy, journalism, lobbying, public policy, and the nonprofit sector. Academic credit may be available through participating students’ educational institutions.

During the academic year, interns are expected to work a minimum of 15 hours per week. The internship is unpaid, and applications are accepted on a rolling basis.
