Democrats Abroad Greece Calls on All Americans to Vote

ATHENS – With just over 30 days until the November 3 midterm elections, Democrats Abroad Greece (DAGR) issued an urgent call to the tens of thousands of U.S. citizens living in Greece: your vote is your voice, and time is running out to make it heard.

The stakes could not be higher. These midterms will be a defining moment for America, and overseas voters have the tools to cut through the barriers that have historically suppressed their participation. But the window to act is closing fast.

The September 19 Deadline: Your Ballot Is Ready

Under federal law, all states are required to send absentee ballots to overseas voters 45 days before the general election. If you have already requested your ballot through votefromabroad.org, it should have arrived in your inbox on or around that date.

If you have not yet requested your ballot, do it today at votefromabroad.org. The process takes five to ten minutes, and you should choose to receive your ballot by email, which cuts weeks off the delivery time. Do not wait.

The FWAB: Your Backup Ballot

Even though Trump himself votes by mail, we’ve seen him use his corrupt loyalists to try to disable our ability to do the same. For overseas voters, this is nearly impossible to achieve. With the Uniformed and Overseas Citizens Absentee Voting Act (UOCAVA), our vote is federally protected, with safeguards in place to ensure our vote is counted.

That safeguard is the Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). The FWAB is a backup ballot specifically designed for overseas voters.

After you’ve requested your absentee ballot, you can download it at fvap.gov/FWAB, fill it out, and send it in to your local election office. Only one ballot will be counted, but the FWAB ensures your vote is never lost to postal delays or bureaucratic hurdles.

A Critical Moment for Americans in Greece

Democrats Abroad Greece has spent the past year building and mobilizing the community through social events and more than a dozen get-out-the-vote initiatives. The energy is real, but the work is not done. We have the unique privilege and opportunity to send a strong message back home, and to the rest of the world. It is going to take all of us to ensure that message is received.

“We have reached roughly 95 percent of our members through phone banking, but we need every American in Greece to take action,” Alkman Granitsas, Chair of Democrats Abroad Greece, wrote to its members. “Tell your friends, your neighbors, your colleagues. This election is about accountability, about the future of American democracy, and about the issues that matter to all of us— from the cost of living to the rule of law.”

Three Steps to Vote from Greece

Register and request your ballot at votefromabroad.org. Choose email delivery.

If your ballot hasn’t arrived by September 19, download and submit a Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB) at fvap.gov/FWAB.

Return your ballot immediately. If your state allows electronic return, use it. If not, use a courier to ensure it arrives on time.
