American Hellenic Institute Releases 2026 Policy Statements Highlighting U.S. Partnerships in the Eastern Mediterranean

WASHINGTON, DC — The American Hellenic Institute (AHI) today announced the release of its 2026 Policy Statements, outlining the organization’s positions on key U.S. foreign policy priorities and reaffirming the strategic importance of U.S. relationships with Greece and the Republic of Cyprus.

The publication examines the evolving geopolitical landscape and underscores the role of Greece and Cyprus as stable, democratic partners advancing U.S. security, energy, and economic interests. It also addresses regional challenges, including Türkiye’s destabilizing actions, highlights the importance of the 3+1 Eastern Mediterranean partnership, and reinforces the need to uphold human rights and religious freedom, including for the Ecumenical Patriarchate.

New to this year’s report are strategic partnership fact sheets on:

  • The United States & Greece Strategic Partnership
  • The United States & the Republic of Cyprus Strategic Partnership
These fact sheets provide policymakers, stakeholders, and advocates with concise overviews of the Institute’s policy priorities and recommendations.

“AHI’s 2026 Policy Statements reflect both the challenges and opportunities facing the United States in the Eastern Mediterranean,” AHI President Nick Larigakis said. “All of our policy positions and recommendations are made in the best interests of the United States. We encourage our audience to share the statements widely.”
