“We’re working on exchange programmes between students of medicine, but also students in any healthcare profession. Such as exchange programmes for postgraduate medical personnel, an exchange of research, and working on strengthening the collaborations between Greek universities and the universities here in Melbourne,” Dr Marinnis Pirpiris, the president of the Hellenic Medical Society of Australia told Neos Kosmos.
On Thursday, a day before the conference starts, representatives of the University of Melbourne and Greek universities will meet to explore opportunities for collaborations.

“Οne of the goals of this conference is to try to reinvigorate the relevance to Hippocrates, the hypothetico-deductive model of reasoning into medicine, but at the same time, the ethics attached to Hippocrates and how we should practice,” said Dr Pirpiris, the chair of the conference.
It is for this reason that an authentic copy of the bust of Hippocrates (discovered in Kos) will be brought from Greece by the Governor of Attica, George Patoulis, to be unveiled, during the launch of the proceedings.
Apart from all the lectures by leading world experts in medicine to address the new advances in research and treatments, a huge part of the conference will be dedicated to Greek Australian community service providers such as PRONIA, Fronditha Care and Agapi, their role in the community, their interactions and needs.
The Hellenic Medical Diaspora World Congress 2022, which is organised by the Hellenic Medical Society of Australia and the Global Doctors’ Hippocratic Institute will end on Saturday 19 November, with a ball at the Grand Hyatt, with the intention to raise funds for PRONIA and Fronditha Care..
