The increase in Covid-19 cases and other respiratory infections tests the national health system for the 4th year

The National Health System will be tested for the fourth year by Covid-19, as well as other respiratory infections, while the opening of schools on Monday is expected to put further pressure on the system.
“It is likely that we will once again experience difficult situations both for the National Health System and for the patients,” the president of the Hellenic Pulmonologists Association, Stamatoula Tsikrika, said in a statement to the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA).
She added that the occupancy of hospital beds has already reached 100%.
More specifically, she said: “The jump in the number of coronavirus cases in Greece, combined with the seasonal flu, the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV), as well as other respiratory viruses, is reflected in occupancy that reaches almost 100% in hospital beds and in increased admissions to Intensive Care Unit beds throughout the territory.”
